“If we lose internet service, we lose the ability to do legal research which is all on-line now. We lose the ability to file pleadings with the courts as most court filings are now done electronically instead of at the courthouse. We lose the ability to communicate with clients via e-mail. A lot of the documents lawyers produce to each other during a case is done by sending PDF’s via e-mail to save trees. We can’t e-mail documents if the internet is down. A lot of the required continuing education is done via on-line streaming, which the attorneys can’t do if the internet is down.
Luckily, since we moved our business to Burr Ridge in January of 2006 and obtained BOB, we have not had any interruption in internet service. Prior to ’06, we had a different internet provider and experienced multiple interruptions.”
